Ibne Sina chairman summoned

The High Court has summoned the chairman of Ibne Sina Hospital Limited, all its trustee board members and two doctors to explain the deaths of three new born babies in the hospital. The court asked them to appear before it on August 23 for their explanation.

The court issued the suo moto order on Wednesday following a report broadcast by private television channel Boishakhi on August 15 saying that three new born babies died of negligence of the hospital authorities on different days.

The reports said the authorities have confined bodies of the three new born babies for three days after their deaths.

They even did not allow the parents to see the bodies, the report added.

The HC bench also directed the hospital authorities to produce all the documents, papers and machine readable bills over the deliveries and deaths of the babies before it on August 23.

The court also issued a rule upon the hospital authorities why they should not be punished for their reported negligence in protecting the lives of children. source: The Daily Star
